Augustus’ rooms were crammed full of his collections: all kinds of strange stuff, half of which he’d taken from rooms in the vacant hotel–the other half came from who-knows-where. We loved his place!

And maybe that’s why we’re such fans of The Selby (Todd Selby). He’s a fashion photographer and illustrator who takes photos of creative people (like artists and writers) hanging around their homes. We’re addicted to his blog “The Selby is in Your Place.” You won’t be disappointed!

The Selby also directs films. We love this one short about one of my favorite artists, Tom Sachs…

Hi again everyone. It’s been awhile and I wanted to give you an update of where we’re at.

First, we’re very nearly finished editing the film: just one or two days away. Exhilarating is the best way to describe the way I feel about this. It’s definitely not your normal documentary (but hopefully in a good way… that will be for you to decide).

After editing we’ll hand the project over to the sound dept… where they’ll smooth out the rough edges of the sound. I’ll also begin work on composing a soundtrack, though much of music is third-party stuff (we’re clearing rights now).

Let’s see… what’s after that? I’ll try to let you know as it happens.

In other news, my server was hacked and the Augustus website as well as all other websites at my server (including zoobreakgunclub.com and tinselman.com) were unavailable for a while. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Message for the Movie Crew

Augustus lost touch with us on November 6th and over the last three weeks, we’ve virtually given up hope of seeing him again. About an hour ago, a reader of this blog (thanks Georgie!) informed me that today Augustus posted the above YouTube video. Georgie’s sentiment’s reflect our own…

… The video he put up today is unnerving. What happened? I hope someone is taking care of him, being there for him, he seems like he could use someone right now.

If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Augustus, please let us know.

Still Waiting

Augustus still hasn’t returned and now we’re pretty much running out of things to shoot. We’re probably getting more B-roll then we’ll ever even look at. It’s a weird place to be… the subject of documentary has vanished and the Producer and I are trying to find things for the crew to do. Understandably, I don’t think any of them are thrilled about the aimlessness of this.

I taken some of this down time, yesterday and today, to begin reviewing some of our footage to date, and have dipped my toes into the editing. Hopefully I can get a rough cut scene or two up within the next few days.

Searching For Augustus

A quick update. As you’re aware if you follow this blog, the trip to Vegas started out well. Without going into all the details, it really went downhill from there. Augustus became even more upset upon our returned to Portland. At this point we’re searching for Augustus; he literally ran off a few days ago. We are obviously concerned. But I am personally sure he’ll return; at the very least I’m sure he wants to see us again (he didn’t even say goodbye). In the meantime, we’re visiting all the places he usually visits, and talking to all of his acquaintances… we’re trying to find some news of him.
